The program goal is to enhance participant understanding and interest of the dynamics of Quality Management. The work that will be r eflected in the ACMQ lectures is an accumulation of 33 years of work in the field of health care quality. The majority of the work was done at North S hore University Hospital (NSUH) and Northwell Health System. The frame work , implementation of quality management process, and the recognition on a na tional and international level was due to getting support from administrati on, medical staff, nursing staff and support services.
The lectures will explain the practical aspects of implementation in both t ypes of environments. The theory, regulatory expectations, and results of p erformance improvement activities one can read in books. The lectures will also reflect the unique roles of Yosef and Andrea; Yosef as a retired execu tive, member of the Quality Committee of Northwell Health Board of Trustee and a Board Member of ACMQ, and Andrea as a nurse and an executive with a f ocus on hospital operations and quality management. They will bring quality to the bedside and to the board room. Jack Walsh, created GE through Six S igma and an internal university. Mike Dowling created Northwell Health thro ugh quality management, the Center for Learning and Innovation, Medical and Nursing school, and a strong vision for caring for the community. On a hos pital level, the current executive director Jon Sendach assures that qualit y is part of care delivery and belongs to all employees. Jon has agreed to feature NSUH in this series that will focus on all dimensions of quality: m ethodology, finance, process, outcomes, and sustainability.
